Your back is vital to your movement and overall health, we may be able to help you maintain a healthy back through targeted treatment and pain relief.

Causes of Back Pain

Back and lower back pain can be caused by a range of influences. Symptoms including inflammation, tension, swelling or irritation of the muscles, nerves, ligaments, tendons, or bones can be caused by:

  • Injuries – such a sports, work or impact related.
  • Strains – awkward bending, over stretching, shifting heavy objects, or maintaining poor posture for extended periods.
  • Stress – increased tension and reduced functioning.
  • Medical conditions – such as arthritis or osteoporosis.

Sometimes, it "shoots" down the Thighs and Legs

This phenomenon is known as sciatica. It feels like a tingling/radiating/pins and needles kind of pain that goes down from the lower back into the front or the back of the thigh, sometimes even reaching down as far as the ankle. The pain might be worse if you try to reach down for something or when you raise your hips.

In most cases, it it most likely due to a pinched nerve in the lower back.

What happens if you don't seek Treament?

When abnormal joint movement of the spine and pelvis is left untreated there are wider consequences for the body due to the nerve irritation.

  • Symptoms can become more painful.
  • The pain may begin to refer
  • You may begin to get pins and needles or numbness down the leg or in the feet.
  • It may impact activities of your daily life.
  • It may interfere with your sleeping and quality of sleep.
  • It will cause uneven stress on your lumbar discs that leads to more serious conditions of the disc i.e. disc prolapse, “disc bulge”
  • The longer a condition is left untreated the more complicated it can become and be more difficult and take more time to correct. This can lead to a strain on time and finances.
